What: A popular 5K race for registrants and an open-to-the-public dog adoption event
When: Sunday, September 27th, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Best Friends 5K and Dog Adoption Day is one of the most highly-anticipated dog events of the year in Los Angeles! Hundreds of dog lovers – many with canines in-tow – and dozens of adoptable dogs will be hanging out in Griffith Park on Sunday, Sept. 27th.
The two-part event starts with a 5K (pre-registrants only!) that makes a loop beginning and ending at the Crystal Springs Pettigrew Area. If you’ve signed up to run you can retrieve your bib as early as 6:30 a.m. Please note there will be (1) one water station along the course for pets and people alike. Can’t run? You can actually register for a “Virtual Run” in which you can participate online!
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit The Dog Cafe in Los Angeles.

After the race, or instead of, if you’re just there for the dogs, be sure to check out the adorable dogs available for adoption. Shelters throughout California come from far and wide in hopes of finding loving homes for dogs, some of which are long-term shelter residents. Many of the dogs are currently being fostered in their own communities while they wait for a permanent place to live.
Attendees can adopt on-site! Bring cash and a government ID if you wish to go home with a pup.
